You CAN Take Them With You

You would be able to be buried with your favorite pet under a bill (HB 1177) passed by the Senate and sent to Gov. Charlie Crist.

Tucked into the omnibus funeral industry bill is a fix sought by Senator Jim King, R-Jacksonville, who was stunned to learn a few years ago that his own eventual burial could not include the urn containing the remains of his favorite dog, a Labrador retriever named Valentine.

The allows people to take along their pet remains as they travel to the afterworld, as long as the animal's remains are in a separate container. "If you want a friend in Tallahassee, get a dog," said Sen. Paula Dockery after voting for the measure, which passed 38-1.
